I spent several months trying to coordinate a time with one of our customers to photograph her outdoor living space that we designed, built, and installed, and it was worth the wait! It was late winter/early spring, but it was very warm and sunny outside. A perfect day to be outside taking photos in someone’s backyard.

Unfortunately, I did get pulled over for speeding on my way to her house. I got caught in a speed trap, but the police officer was so friendly and nice! He said that he was impressed that I was able to make the right-hand turn at the excessive speed I was going! I was not even in a hurry; I was just driving through an unfamiliar area and I was not aware of the speed limit. I tried explaining that to him, but he still gave me a citation. He was nice enough to explain three different reasons why the speed drops in that spot and why it is important to slow down when driving down that stretch of road. I appreciated the explanation. Like gas prices, speeding tickets have certainly gone up in price over the years.

When I arrived at our customer’s big, beautiful home, I was greeted at the door by the owner, a young woman who looked like a real-life hippie! Long blonde wavy hair, a black concert t-shirt with the sleeves cut off, and bell-bottom jeans. She invited me in, and I was struck by her gorgeous home and how funky it was decorated! Big purple velvet chairs and zebra-striped sofas! Unique décor, for sure!

She took me into her backyard, which was decorated like a beach house. I truly felt like I was at a resort on a private island! My eye was drawn to her Find Pools in Oklahoma City
She had an existing pergola that PMH did not build. Like her, and her home, it was unique in style. The posts were decorated with Hawaiian masks, surfboards, knots, crabs, mermaids, lifeguard signs, and boat anchors. Café lights were strung from one end to the other. The pergola-covered a nice set of outdoor patio furniture that looked very comfortable. There were sofas, chairs, tables, and a bar top. Perfect for entertaining. It had retractable screens to provide shade, and it had a perfect view of her Find Pools in Oklahoma City.
To complete her outdoor living space/beach house project, PMH built a stunning brick and rock combination outdoor fireplace adjacent to her pergola and the Find Pools in Oklahoma City.
The hearth was decorated with seahorses, mermaids, alligators, lots of tropical plants, and human skulls, which did not quite seem to go with the beach house theme, but they looked cool. She had them mixed in with the fireplace logs, which was a little eerie.
Above the outdoor fireplace mantel was a cedar TV enclosure that PMH installed. This is a popular product that PMH’s retail store makes by hand in their local shop. Right below the TV cabinet was a turquoise painted wooden sign that read “Poolside Lounge”. Perfect for her Find Pools in Oklahoma City.
The fireplace was massive! As tall as it was wide. It made quite an impression on the patio in her backyard’s outdoor living space.
When I finished taking the photos, I asked her if she would be interested in doing the thirty-second video review, but she declined. She said that she did not like to be recorded on video. Her response kind of surprised me! She seemed very laid back and easy-going, and the type that would not mind doing the video review.

As she was walking me out, I complimented her on her home and her outdoor living space, and I asked her if she did a lot of entertaining. She said that she does. She said that she has six kids and a grandchild……something else that surprised me because she did not look old enough to have grandchildren! She said that they spend a lot of time over there swimming in her Find Pools in Oklahoma City. She said that on New Year’s Eve they hosted a foam party at their home, which took place in their backyard! She said that everyone enjoyed the outdoor fireplace that night! I’m sure it was cold outside!
One of my favorite parts of my job is getting to photograph all the finished projects. Since they are custom, they are all so different and unique from one another. It is nice when PMH gets to design, build and install all aspects of the outdoor living space projects, from the Find Pools in Oklahoma City to the pergolas to the outdoor kitchens, but it is always nice when they get to complete the existing project with the crown jewel, like the outdoor fireplace at this home.
I left this house feeling like I had been on vacation in California or Florida! The beach house and the poolside lounge signs described the space perfectly. Stepping outside of the home and into the backyard was like stepping off a plane in another destination.
